In the beginning…
2022
The COVID-19 pandemic gave me an invaluable gift: time. Despite the uncertainty of seeing most plans and works canceled, it gave me the opportunity to take a break, reflect, rediscover myself, resume forgotten projects and sail on new directions. All within the walls of my house, in solitude and surrounded by a magical silence.
Although this project originates in 2020, it takes shape and direction early in 2021 with my entrance into the Salón México collective and the theme Lost and Found. Then the need arose for me to rediscover my origins and immerse myself in three trunks full of memories, some locked for more than forty years. There, finding an old camera, my oldest memory comes to mind.
As I review albums, letters, documents and notes, I record each discovery with my cell phone, which is the instrument that allows me to keep a quick record, with good quality, without losing the spontaneity of the moment, charged with emotion.
In the beginning…, marks the priority of my personal projects. The pandemic gave me time; las Saloneras, motivation to imagine and develop those projects.
