Fincar Correspondencias - In Summer 2021, Saloneras partnered with the Government of the State of Baja California through the Ministry of Culture with Olga Margarita Davila director of museums and galleries, and the Secretariat of Foreign Relations through the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles with Cynthia Prida cultural attache to organize the 1st Encounter of Women Visual Artists. The event brought cultural processes closer to both sides of the border, shared knowledge, and the synergy of tentacular feminisms among women visual artists, curators, art critics, and cultural promoters.
The gathering was held on August 30 and 31, 2021 in Tijuana and Ensenada, Baja California. During the two-day event, 38 women presented their work, visited cultural sites, and interfaced to strengthen their bonds. The successful event continued with a virtual meeting on October 14, 2021 in Los Angeles. Hosted by the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, thirteen presentations by ten artists and three curators took place. The presenters hailed from Southern California, Baja California, Mexico City, and the Dominican Republic. The virtual meeting was a well-attended success, connecting artists to viewers with emotional, creative, intellectual, socially relevant, and inspirational presentations.
