Lost and Found
2021
This sweater is inspired by the dreams and drawings collected in a little black book during the pandemic as part of the Yoga Dream Lab. The practice of Yoga Dream Lab helped my well-being during the lockdown. Practicing and meeting up virtually with members of my community gave me the support needed to live through the global pandemic. Sharing my thoughts and drawings after each yoga practice allowed me to connect and empathize with the other YDL artists and participants. Despite feeling anxiety and confusion due to Covid-19, knitting and making this sweater was a peaceful experience. Picking thread colors to match my drawings and eventually collaborating with other knitters, was a warm and fulfilling experience. My drawings are charged with the desire to transform negative energy into something material that is comforting, cozy.
My life and my work are entangled, (un)raveled. It would seem that yarn connects me to the world. It is a metaphor for how I see my life: stitches connected to other stitches that create a unity that is imperfect yet full of love and altogether beautiful.
