I moved into a new home and the packing and unpacking of stuff collected throughout my life begs the obvious question: Do I need any of it? Moments, forgotten experiences, and thoughts are being triggered as I pour throw my belongings. It’s not so much that I want to keep something but that I want to remember the small things, those tiny moments that glue the bigger, monumental pieces of my life together. Snapshots, blips, smells of my past, triggering vivid and emotional memories, reminding me of where I came from, defining who I am, and what I had hoped to be. Fabric, thread, paint and found objects (and smells) come together to create a story thread, a moment of my life, allowing me to hold on to some of those small memories.
