Reinventing Myself Through Drawing
2018
A little more than a year ago, I retired as a professor and researcher in Art History at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, a position I held for 32 years. This has allowed me to recover aspects of myself that had been relegated by the intensity of work and daily life. One of them, perhaps the one that has caused me the greatest pleasure and excitement, is drawing. Every week I have been going to life drawing sessions. Those hours are equivalent to meditation, rediscovering what it is like to look and make marks with my hands, to use a part of my brain and body that had been left aside for many years. The drawing that I have placed in this box could have been almost any one of the many that I have created during this time, it signifies, for me, our infinite potential for growth, both in relation to our interior and our exterior.
