She's So Crafty
2019
For this piece I chose to use what I had on hand. All the bits and pieces squatting about the house, seen every day, yet ignored for the detritus that they’ve become. Following the 2016 presidential debate, I took an old t-shirt, a trusted Sharpie and wrote “Nasty Woman”. This allowed me to flip the dialogue and negativity. I felt empowered. I wanted to use this shirt and other shirts I had made over the years to inject my wool landscapes with words and intentions for humankind. The process was chaotic, stressful and fraught with false starts and discarded not-quite-right versions. This was a piece to express a little bit of my voice. There’s a lot of voice left, however.
