‘“The gods have no other substance than the one I have.’ I have, like them, the substance of all that has been lived and all that remains to be lived. I am not only present, but a streaming flight from end to end. And what I see, on one side and the other, in this flight (roses, the remains of wings, shadow and light) belongs only to me, my remembrance and my desire, my presentiment, my forgetfulness.”
