Woven Paintings
2018
I used the traditional method of weaving that I have experienced all my life: the weaving of hickory baskets, the weaving of rugs from old rags, the spinning and weaving of wool threads, basket-making in the West Indies with wicker and straw. I used images of my paintings in two ways. In one, I used one painting and sliced it in strips and wove them together and wrapped it around the outside of the box and included strips of the paintings inside, inviting the viewer to arrange the strips. In the other box, I used images of two paintings and wove them together. Inside this box was a strip of ribbon with images of my paintings.
